Work starts at Woodsend Circle
Woodsend Circle is a 1960’s, predominately three-storey block comprising nine retail units and a doctor’s surgery on the ground floor, with 11 maisonettes above. Six of the retail units are holding over under expired leases, and the other three are currently vacant.
Following approval by executive Trafford councillors, LSP Developments Ltd will now revamp the 2.46 acre residential and retail site which includes the 1960s three storey block shown below. The Woodsend Area Partnership have been working closely with the council and the developers to ensure the Woodsend Circle redevelopment is right for the local community.
The Woodsend Circle redevelopment has now commenced with the aim of easing congestion in the area, improve health services, improved retail outlets and quality housing amenities. LSP Developments have appointed WH Snow as the primary construction contractor who will start by creating new premises for a Sainsbury’s Local shop, Co-op Pharmacy, William Hill betting shop and Barnardos charity store – plus 12 new apartments, built in partnership with Trafford Housing Trust.
The first phase will ease the congestion around this area for retailers, shoppers and patients visiting their GPs. The doctor’s surgery is on an annual tenancy, and is due to relocate to a unit within the Trafford General site by December 2014 at the latest.
After demolition of old premises, Persimmon Homes are due to build 25 new homes.
