ARLA Propertymark is the UK’s foremost professional and regulatory body for letting agents; representing over 9,000 members.

To become a member, our staff have had to undertake and pass the Level 3 professional studies award in Residential Lettings and Property Management and the company has to pass a strict audit on its procedures.

By using an ARLA Propertymark Protected agent, our customers have the peace of mind that we provide a professional service and their money is safeguarded by Propertymark’s Client Money Protection scheme.

Members of ARLA must comply with a strict code of practice to ensure our tenants and landlords always deal with the best in the business offering higher standards than the law demands.

Many landlords and tenants are unaware that the lettings industry is unregulated, meaning that effectively anyone can set up as a letting agency.

Every year tenants and landlords suffer through dealing with agents who are inexperienced or do not adhere to the law. In the worst cases financial losses can add up to millions of pounds.

What is ARLA Propertymark protection?

ARLA Propertymark Protected agents hold customers money in a separate client account which is independently inspected annually. This is not the case with all letting agents.

You will receive a professional service from an ARLA Propertymark Protected agent, but if things go wrong the ARLA Propertymark Client Money Protection Scheme (CMP) will step in and reimburse tenants and landlords.

While there is currently no mandatory regulation of letting agents and landlords, there are over 170 pieces of Legislation affecting tenancies. If your agent is not up to date or offering a professional service you could be missing out on protection guaranteed by law.
